LOVE

Beth, your bible passage is so appropriate and I'm glad that you shared it with us.

LOVE is the reason that I am so grateful of being a part of this family "Our Family". I know that each of you love me and care for me and know that I love and care for each of you very much.

Mama/G'mama/Aunt "Di"
(PS: I think we need to have a new family picture made, don't you)

Love

I opened my Bible this morning - not in search of anything in particular just searching -  and was blown away by what I read.  I felt the need to share.

1Corinthians 13

"If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal.  If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.  If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing.

Love is patient, love is kind.  It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.  It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.  Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.  It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Love never fails.  But where there are prophecies, they will cease;  where there are tongues, they will be stilled;  where there is knowledge, it will pass away.  For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears.  When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child.  When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. Now I know in part;  then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.

And now these three remain:  faith, hope and love.  But the greatest of these is love."

If my last day on this earth would have been yesterday - and each of you could smile today knowing that you were truly loved by me - then I would be a very happy angel.

I can make a list of THINGS my days are consumed by, but none are listed above loving you.

peace, love and hope

The Most Awesome Birthday Ever!

My 44th birthday was the best ever! Aunt Di stole a birthday card for me, Mimi called me old, bald and wrinkled,  and Jay loaned me $2 so I could buy his lunch. It just does not get any better than that!
I still adhere to the old indian saying-"how old would you be, if you didn't know how old were?" I think we all have aged very well.
It was great to hear from the Stewarts and all that they have been doing.
I returned home from Ft. Lauderdale Sunday. The weather was nice but everyone is from the northeast. It is like being in Connecticut, only warmer.
Hope everyone has a great week,
Dub

Upset in Savannah!!!! (just kidding!!)

Why does'nt anybody call us when ya'll come to Savannah? I have read 3 different blogs where 3 different families came to Savannah and nobody called us? Next year when I bring my family to Statesboro for Thanksgiving, I am not going to call any of ya'll!!! (I am just kidding Grandma Di. We wouldn't dare do that). No, I really understand. I have been to Statesboro many times and haven't called, so I can't really get on to ya'll. But we would love for ya'll to call us anytime ya'll are here.

Happy late Birthday Dub!! You are such a "red wrinkled baldheaded man and you are just the cutest thing that I have ever seen". I was just a little upset about that when I read what my dear grandmother wrote about Dub being just the cutest little thing she had ever laid her eyes on, but when I went back and read the whole thing again about the wrinkled baldheaded baby, I just wasn't as upset anymore.

Barbara and Glenn - those are some great pictures from California. It looks like ya'll had a great time. I can't believe ya'll got to go to Pebble Beach!! I have always wanted to go there and see the clubhouse and the course. Ya'll will have to tell me which airline ya'll flew on to California because if they were crazy enough to let Glenn sit in the pilot's seat, then that is an airline that I am going to stay away from.

It was good to hear from you Mimi - I am glad that you have figured out the blog thing so you can participate.

Lisa Lee- This is a family blog site and it is not appropriate for you to post anything about the special "treats" that John has given you. We have already had to discipline one family member for inappropriate bloggin.

We hope to see everyone soon. The girls are fine, just staying busy with school and basketball. Kaitlyn just doesn't seem too interested in basketball right now. Her coach asked her in the game last week if she wanted to go back in, and Kaitlyn told her that she was sleepy and didn't want to play anymore. Oh well!!

Hey, Ya'll look down to Feb 13 and read Mimi's blog. She worked on it for a couple of days and we did not realize that you have to go and change the date (when you are in edit) to make it show up today. So her blog showed up on Feb 13. Please make sure everyone reads it. She said sorry for all the mistakes, she learning everyday.

Saturday, February 14, 2009

I did this backwards. I wrote to all of you at the bottom and then posted my California pictures. I should have done it the other way around.

Barbara

Go on youtub and watch the San Francisco bushman. He scared the death out of me. He is so funny!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pebble beach golf course and club house.

Us on the boat Whale Watching. There are two whales below. Where you see the water is a whales spout and then next to it is another whales tail. We saw about 30.

Glenn & me at the ocean in California

The 18th Hole at Pebble Beach.

Believe it or not I posted yesterday but I went to my site instead of Mimi's! Happy (now late) Birthday Dub. I did think of you yesterday. Hope everyone has had a good Valentine's day. Glenn and I started the day off at a hog and cow show. With his new job, everyone expects him to come and get involved in everything. Tattnall really expects you to be involved in school and community and there is always something going on that Glenn needs to be at so he stays busy that means I stay busy because he wants me to go to most everything he has to be at.

Mallory is doing good. She had two tennis matches last week. She lost to SEB and won to Claxton. She is loving her job at the Doctors office. She is so cute in her scrubs. They are so good about working around her schedule. She will have to cheer for basketball this next week a couple of nights for Tournaments. The girls will play Tuesday in Jeff Davis and the boy I think will play Thursday in Brantley County. Most likely they will both play during the weekend also.
So we will be busy with Basketball all week and weekend.

Justin is doing good I think. Mallory went and spent the night with him last night. They went Midnight bowling. They ate lunch with Glenn's parents today. I don't get to see Justin that much but I talk with him every other day pretty much. His job is keeping him busy and he is like his father, always studying. I think he is going to Walt Disney World this next weekend so I will be seeing him soon because I know he will need some money.

Mimi seems to be feeling better. One night last week she was real light headed and didn't feel well but I think she is a lot better. He laptop is now connect to the internet here so she is able to get on. Look to hear from her soon.

Glenn surprised me and took me to Savannah out to eat and to a movie after the cow & hog show. He did allow me to come home and get cleaned up. It was nice to spend some time just with Glenn. It does not seem like we get to do that much. I know you all know how goes.

I think it is about time we plan a card night or afternoon. Maybe Emily you can sit by Aunt Di and cheat again. Beth you are good at planning it so it is up to you.

I am attaching some pictures from California.

Barbara

Happy Valentines Day!

Happy Valentines Day!!!!

Hope everyone is doing well!

See yall soon!

When does Daniel Play?

Beth,
Me and John are in desperate need of a baseball fix so please let us know when Daniel plays and what the schedule is! We would love to come and watch!!!

BA lost tonight so we are heading to the state tournament on Thursday as the 4th seed out of our bracket. We play at Brewton Parker against TiftArea (I think) - they are supposed to be very good.

The girls team came in 2nd in the region and plays in the state tournament on Wednesday.

Emily is going to be enjoying the beach house this upcoming week. Win has basketball practice so we will not be able to go :-( I do not like having this week off in February!!!! I would rather start a week later in August! (I know teacher's like it but they don't have athlete's playing sports so you are stuck at home all week!)

Happy Valentine's Day to everyone!!! I hope you each get something "special!" John is trying to give me a "special" treat early!!!

I have already told Dub Happy Birthday and he quickly reminded me that I will ALWAYS be older than he is!! (But maybe one day HE will look older than me!!!)

Peace! Love! & Hope!
Lisa

Happy Valentine's Day!

Well, handsome uncle john takes care of the jokes for the little ones so here is one for the grown ups.

The day before valentine's day a man went out to shop for his wife something really special.  He needed to make up for past occasions that he had been pretty slack on.  So he goes to the most expensive lingerie shop and starts looking.  He sees that the price range is huge.  Everything from $50 to $300.  So of course he picks up the $300 sexy one piece and holds it up and can't believe that something that is so tiny and you can see completely through could cost so much money.  He buys it anyway - they pack it neatly in a store bag and he takes it home and puts it away in the closet.

While cleaning up that night the wife comes across the bag and notices the price through the bag and comes up with what she thought was a great idea.  After her husband proudly gives her the gift she goes to the other room and tells him to wait right there.

She has decided, like her husband, the piece is so thin and skimpy that you wouldn't even be able to tell she had anything on - so instead of putting on the outfit she decides she will go out naked and return the item the next day and get the cash.

She calls out to let him know that she is on her way then stands before him and asks in her most sexy voice "So honey, what do you think?"  His jaw drops and without taking one moment to think he replies "you would think for $300 they would have at least ironed the damn thing!"

I don't think she was feeling the love after that one.

Happy Valentines Day to everyone!!

Daniel is playing in the preseason region tournament this weekend in Brooklet.  We have lost the two games we have played, but with only two players returning from last year we are actually more together that I expected.  Daniel is catcher and has saw more playing time in the first game than he did all of last year combined.  He is doing a great job and I am very proud of him.  Mikay has finished basketball and we are now looking forward to softball.

Everyone keep in touch and have a great weekend.
love

Good Morning Everyone!

Boy!  Look at that team.  So many highlights from last weeks game should have made ESPN's Top 10!!
I am so proud of our team.  Like Aunt Di I am a little prejudice about Mikay being such a great player.  Thanks to all that made it to the game Sat. morning.  Even Yancy!!  Too bad handsome Uncle John couldn't make it.  You and Jay had some great advice about how Mikay should trash talk the other team.  Maybe you should stop by and see the SIZE of the other players and maybe the bill for her last pair of bifocal glasses we just bought.  That way when she does follow your advise and throw around some "YOYO GURL" OR "YO MAMA" then you can comfort her by taking her to boomers to get a new pair of glasses.  JK!  I laugh just thinking of all the talk on and off the court - guarded by DC's finest police escort -  when I played basketball in the highly respectful and etiquette conscious Dekalb County school system at the great Lithonia High School.  As a matter of fact I think I played with Bon Qui Qui's older sister - they sure do act a lot alike.

Well, enough reminiscing.

Daniel has started baseball at LCMS.  I agree John, I am ready for baseball season too.  Mikay will finish basketball this weekend - championship game on Monday - if we make it that far.  Dub will be in Fort Lauderdale this weekend and Daniel will have regional pre-season tournament at SEB starting Thursday.

It was nice to hear from the Rowe's and everyone else.  I hope we can all get together soon and just visit.

Peace love and hope

The Rowe family has been busy these past several weeks. It seems as if something is always going on. Kaitlyn and Lauren are playing basketball with Hancock Day School in an intramural league. The games are every Saturday, so we have been busy with that. I am Chairman of the Deacon board at church and also on the Board of Trustees for Hancock, so I have a meeting almost every night. Lisa has been busy with the end of the year accounting for our office and trying to get everything ready to take to our accountant.

We took 35 3rd - 5th grade boys and girls camping this past Friday night at the primitive camping area at Skidaway Island State Park (the girls actually went back and spent the night in the gym at church). The kids are ones that participate in our AWANA program at our church. It was a bit cold, but we had a blast and this program has been amazing. We have some kids from just terrible home situtations that we bus in to this program every Wed night, and it has been encouranging to see how their attitudes and overall personality have changed just because they know that we love them and want to help them. It has been fun to watch them grow and learn more about the bible, and some of the questions they ask are truly amazing.

As you probably already know, Robert Lamb passed away yesterday morning. I am going to the Memorial service in Augusta tomorrow.

Things at work have been going fairly well. We have managed to stay busy and actually had a good month last month. Hopefully things may be starting to turn around, but I am not getting my hopes up too much.

Mimi, I was glad to see you post on the blog. You need to do more posting, afterall, this blog is named after you.

I hope everyone is doing well and we do miss seeing you all. We are trying to find some time to get to Statesboro to spend some time with Grandma Di.

And Mikay, Uncle John is right about that trash talking. I was always very good at trash talking (just ask Uncle Dub!!)

That's all for now.

Jay

The Rowe's are just chillin'

Friday, February 6, 2009

ok,ok,ok family peeps... here's the deal on Handsome Uncle John not bloggin.... No I havent been working to hard or sick or moody or anything... I just forgot how to sign in!!! This old age aint for sissys!!! Here's a question for Anna Kate and Emily-- How many weight watcher points does the banana puddin at Snooky;s count??? I think Bob used up this months points at lunch Wednesday... We've been hanging out a BA bball games... I'm kind of ready for baseball season but the basketball gators are doing well... Someone please tell Win that its ok to shoot... hes taken 5 shots in the last 4 games??? I cant wait to see Mackay play some hoops... she does, however need a crash course in bball trash talk so here goes... Mackay- the proper thing to say if someone is guarding you too close is "Get out my face gurl!!!", or if she bumps into you say "Get off me, chile fo I come up side yo haid!" and always remember if she says something bad back to you just say "YO MOMMA! " and if you want them to throw you the ball say"Hey gurl, toss me the pebble!".... Use these and see if they work and I'll tell you somemore later... Ok, now for the moment you have been waiting for,,,,, The uncle john hilariouse blog joke for the day--- "What did the baseball glove say to the baseball??? CATCH YOU LATER! Love, Uncle john

Why

Dear Uncle John me and Aunt Di would like to know why you are not blogging and telling your hilarious jokes on the family blog and if any of you read this and that basically means Win,Aunt Lisa, and Whitney well I love all of you that are reading this.

Love,
mikay sands

Hey from Whitney!!!

Hey Everyone!

Hope all is going well. Things are going really well up in Athens right now. I met a guy on Monday who owns a PR agency in Alpharetta, and he told me about what they do. It sounds really exciting, and was kind of a breath of fresh air. If I can't find a writing position in this scary financial climate, PR would be something really exciting instead. And maybe I could live in Savannah and be close to the Rowes and close to Statesboro :)    But it's all still wishful thinking at this point! It's really weird having absolutely no clue what is coming next! I've always had a plan up until now.

Sorry to hear about the Frederica loss. I saw a Frederica sweatshirt on Tuesday - a guy who came and spoke to my class was wearing it. It was nice to see a little GISA representation on campus.  Speaking of, I can't wait to see Win's basketball game in Waynesboro on Friday on my way home for the weekend.   I also somehow cajoled Yancey into taking me to the late showing of "He's Just Not that Into You" later Friday night, so if anyone is interested, you should come with!  Just let me know.

Good luck to Mikay in her basketball endeavors! I hope to see one of your games soon as well!!!

See y'all soon! Love, Whit

BAD NIGHT FOR THE GATORS

The BA Gators lost to Frederica last night in a close game from the tip-off until the final buzzer. I know when I tell you Win played a good game, you all will think I'm a little prejudice, and I probably am - But - Win did play well!!!!!
Justin and Christina came to the game and it was fun having them. Justin had to keep explaining a lot of the calls being made by the officials. Now that he is officiating games for the GSU intramurals he is quiet knowledgeable in the rules and regulations. I was quiet impressed - I may be a little prejudice with him also, but he did know what he was talking about. I am proud and impressed with both of my "favorite grandsons".
Jay, we haven't heard from you in several weeks - come on and let us know what is going on with you and the "Rowe Girls". I know you're probably working really hard and just haven't had time to blog (I can hear John laughing now). Please catch us up with a blog. John must be working really hard too (I can hear Jay laughing now), he hasn't posted in quite a while - the girls are missing his jokes (so am I). All of you come on and blog.
I hope Leslie has her computer set up and her tv getting more than a couple of stations by now. Justin is going to be her neighbor in August when he moves from his apartment.
I don't know why Barbara and Glenn don't blog! Or why Emily and Bob don't blog! (Bob and Anna Kate came to the BA game last night - but Emily stayed home).
Thanks to Beth and Dub for blogging and keeping us updated on what's going on with them. Dub you need to let us know how your trainee is doing in preparing for the triathelon. What is the date of the triathelon?
Mother came to the game last night and is here - stop by and see her if you have time.
Love all of you, Mama/G'mama/Aunt "Di"
