Happy Birthday Uncle John!!!!

Happy Birthday Uncle John !!!!

We are a day late, but better late than never. Happy 50th birthday. You look much younger than some other 50 yr olds I know (Uncle Bob).

We are looking forward to coming to your house for Thanksgiving.

I have a joke for you - "When does Christmas come before Thanksgiving?"

Can't wait to see yall!

Hi All!
Hope everyone is well! Sorry I haven't been on in a while, I started taking on a lot more responsibilities at work, which I'm happy about but I've been more busy. I enjoyed reading all the new posts and catching up though.
Happy (late) birthday to the Marines and to Uncle Bob! I saw Mary Mitchell and Jordan on your birthday and we talked about you. Maybe I can see yall sometime if you're up in Savannah to visit.
I'm so excited about Thanksgiving! I invited my roommate & her boyfriend to come along. They are from California and can't make it home for the holidays. Yancey will be around too (for supper). Speaking of, I took a quick head count and John and Yancey are the only Lee family representatives who will be eating oysters (but they are excited about them).
Daniel, I hope you had fun in Atlanta! Beth - Win and Taylor tried to go see Twilight tonight, but it was sold out so they bought tickets to Precious instead. They didn't like it and didn't even stay for the whole thing! Oh well, I guess not everyone can take that intensity (especially when you were expecting the exact opposite - Twilight). Yancey and I saw Twilight at the midnight showing, and it was a trip! I will have to tell yall all about it next weekend.
If anyone needs a sugar fix this week, come to the Lee house! John got all kinds of desserts: cupcakes, chocolate cake, pumpkin pie, caramel cake, cinnamon roll, and flan (random!). I think he's had a good pre-birthday so far, hopefully tomorrow will be nice too. (Happy Early Birthday, John!)
I can't wait to see all of yall on Thursday! Love, Whit

Hey everybody,
Im heading out to the ATL at 8:30 bright and early in the morning. Im going with about 6 other people from my school. The trip Im going on is The Youth Assembly, this is where we go a debate bills and make new laws. It can sound pretty lame at first but once you get into it and meet new people it's pretty fun. I wrote a bill that makes PE mandatory every semester from ninth grade to twelfth grade. Hope it gets passed in real government too.

Sandra Bullock on Entertainment Tonight!!

At least I thought it was, until the interviewer introduced Lisa Lee of Doodle Bugs! Wow, Lisa will have her own talk show soon.

I am looking forward to spending some time at the river. Everyone is welcome to come along. John- if you come, Jay has a cot tent that sleeps two people, I am sure he will share. Or you can sleep in Bob's tent. However, he snores very loud and sleeps with bottle of urine.
All kidding aside- there is plenty of room for anyone who would like to join us.

Beth is in Charlotte this weekend visiting a friend, Mikay will be in Atlanta. Daniel and I will be holding things down on the Boulevard this weekend. If anyone is going to the GSU game let me know.

Barbara- I hope you are feeling better. We are praying for a speedy recovery.

Don't let your meatloaf,
Dub

Lisa on WTOC tonight!!!

Ok - everybody needs to watch WTOC tonight for the debut interview of Lisa Lee and Doodle Bugs! I just got interviewed by Dal Canady for a segment for the 3/50 project which promotes shopping locally. I won't be able to watch because of a College Fair at BA so ya'll let me know how I did. I had no prior notice that he was coming so my hair is looking a little flat!!!

To the Lee's House We Go!

The Cook's are very excited about Thanksgiving. I have a new domino game to teach everyone. I am very glad that Bob does not get play with matches this year. 50 year olds should not be allowed to play with matches or heavy machinary. Bob I will be be at Lisa and John's around 4 I hope. Don't forget to get you Nutcracker tickets. They are shows Thursady night, Fiday night, Saturday night and a Sunday matinee. We are leaving Monday the 22nd and going to Charleston. From there we will go to Savannah and then to Lisa's. I can't waint to see everybody.

Correction

John asked me to post a correction to Dub's previous blog. Although things are definitely dismal around the Lee household these days - we have not had to stoop to selling the river property (yet). If anyone has any insurance needs, please call John. The boys are welcome to camp on the 18 acres that are still in our portfolio. (Taxes are not due on the property until the 20th of December).

United States Marine Corps Birthday!!

November 10, 1775, the United States Marine Corps was born. October 14, 1986, they lowered their standards and let a college dropout from Statesboro enter Paris Island.

Anyway- I am looking forward to Thanksgiving at the Lee Plantation.
Jay and Bob: I would love to go down the river, but we would have to camp on a sandbar, since John sold his river property. Y'all just let me know what you want to do.
I hope everyone has a great day!

GOBBLE! GOBBLE! GOBBLE!!!!

The Sands' can't wait for Thanksgiving. Dub thinks we need to take a head count on who will be EATING oysters. Since I don't eat them I didn't realize that we always have a bunch left over. Let me know who would like to have oysters and who can suggest something else. If no one replies then I will assume we don't need any oysters. And the rap music sounds awesome! Everybody has time to get there groove on!! Dub still has the playlist he created last year for Thanksgiving. We will be sure to bring it with us.

Our plans remain the same - can't say the same about the people - for Thanksgiving day. We will meet my family at Clarks Hill this year at my aunts house for lunch then return home - as soon after lunch as possible - for the big bash at the Lee's. We have a few new additions to the family tree this year. Alex, one I can't remember the name, another name I can't spell or say, and one that my cousin is I think the father of and have no clue what the name is. Could be more "surprises" that day - you never know at Thanksgiving.

Thanks to Whitney and Lisa for trying to introduce me to a little "culture" friday night at the Savannah Film Festival. That was really fun. Aunt Di will be very surprised that I watched the movie Precious. Very Heavy!!!!!

We love you all

peace out
betha

Thanksgiving 2009

I haven't really talked to anyone about Thanksgiving, but am assuming that we will do the same as always! We will have Thanksgiving Dinner at my house (traditional turkey & dressing dinner) at lunch time for whoever wants to come. We'd love to have as many as possible!!!
Jay - your family is welcome if ya'll don't have other plans! Thursday night - I was thinking of making a jambayala or gumbo and we can do oysters. Of course, we will have the fire outside. Unfortunately, Bob will have to move around to the pond dam to do his annual burning because I now have some kick-ass mexicans who are keeping the pond edge clean! I will start making a Thanksgiving night play list on my ipod (we might even include some Texas Swing music so John and Mimi can dance the night away!) If anyone has anyother ideas or suggestions - let me know!

Time for a Party????

Well, I think it was about this time last year that Whitney set this blog up, and we started making our Thanksgiving plans via bloggerville. So I am wondering if anybody out there has any prelimanary ideas as to what we are going to do for Thanksgiving.

Do I need to get my oyster cooker ready? Do we want to do a low-country boil? Do I need to get my best Run DMC rap tape out? Do I need to bring Mimi a bottle of wine??

We are not going to Charleston this year, so we should be getting to Statesboro a little earlier.

Is anybody planning on going down the river?

Somebody let me know what's going on!!!!!

Jay

WHITNEY... YOU'RE AWESOME!

First you have a hunky dunky movie star boyfriend and now your are bff's with Drew Carey! Pretty soon you are just gonna pack up and leave your looser family behind.

JK! I know you wouldn't do that Whit.

I am so glad to hear you are enjoying what you are doing. We hope to see you soon. I assume that you will be around at Thanksgiving. RIGHT?!

Well, I hope everyone in bloggerville is doing fine.
