HELLOOOOOO BLOGGERVILLE!
Sorry it's been so long since my last blog. I have been busy coaching an awesome basketball team who's key go to gal is none other than Mikay Sands!! We lost a close one tonight - 1 point loss - that is tough!!! We played great, but couldn't sink the last shot.
Way to go Mimi!!! I'm proud of your blogging skills. It will get easier each time.
Are Jay and his family out of the country again and away from cyber space? He usually has a lot to say, but like myself he hasn't taken time to keep everyone informed. What up wi dat homeboy?
Whitney, I think the magazine would love a great story like the stars and angels. I just got another shipment today to start working on. Although our "regular" season of selling them has passed I still have people asking me about them so I want to have them ready incase anyone is interested. So keep spreading the word. Great teacher gifts - among other things. I already have a new design for our next batch, and my brother said he will keep cutting them out of metal throughout the year when he has the time and materials.
The Sands crew is staying busy and I continue to train for my first ever triathlon. I am finally getting better with the swim, but still have a long way to go. It was great to see Win play basketball Tues. against Memorial. BA won - even after Win fouled out. Win - there is nothing wrong with fouling out of a game - most great players can say they have at some point - BUT, how you handle receiving your 5th foul is what should make you great. Thats all I have to say about that. I am very proud of how you played. I also enjoyed sitting by Taylor and some of your other friends during the game.
I hope all are doing well and feeling fine. We need to get together soon - cards are always fun.
peace, love and hope

Lost blog.
Whitney somehow my message to you was lost on the original blog , sorry.Want to thank you for the Christmas DVD it was great!! Diane put it on my lap top also lots of other things, pictures and etc. I'll be able to enjoy for years to come. And you made all of this possible, thanks so much! I've been with Diane since Win's last ballgame and am looking forward to BA's game tomorrow night. Diane is still teaching me computer skills and I'm still trying to learn. Gave Honey a big hug for you. Love you very much and looking forward to seeing you soon.
Hey Everyone!
Hope everybody is doing great! And hope my family is done with the throw-up virus, I hate to say it but I am glad I dodged that bullet.
Thanks to Grandmama for watching Honey & Homer this weekend. I miss Honey so much, her picture is my background on my laptop so I see it and think of her 10 times a day.
And I am glad Mimi is getting the hang of the blogs, we missed you!
I'm so glad that Beth made the $1,000 mark! That is so exciting. Someone should tell the newspaper! Well, maybe not because I want to be able to write it for the Statesboro Magazine! PS - the Sands family might be the only ones who truly appreciate this, but I just found out that Danny McBride is from Statesboro!! He is the demolitions guy in Tropic Thunder, the ornery cousin in Heartbreak Kid, the curly-headed guy in Pineapple Express, and one of the homeless guys in Drillbit Taylor. I've always thought he was hilarious and it makes me so happy he's from the same place as we are! He was born in '76, did anyone happen to know him?
Well, hope everyone is having a great week so far! Talk to yall soon!

Mimi's first blog!!!
I'm slowly learning-it's been fun,but so much to learn-. Diane's been very patience with me. Thanks to everybody for the lap-top. GOD has been so good to me. Giving me such a loving, caring, family. Can't tell you how much I've enjoyed reading the blog,s and keeping up with what is going on in your lives. Some of you have had wonderful vacations and reading about it is almost like being there( almost but not quite). Diane has been so good to carry me to Win's ball games which have been GREAT!!!!!. Lisa and John meet us there with a chair and hugs and kisses and Win never fails to come over with more hugs and kisses also Taylor is there with open arms.(you know how I like hugs).Barbara and Glen are still taking care of me. Good to see Justin so exited about school and learning to coach and Mallory excited about her new job with Dr. Dasher.Dub hope you are feeling better and Beth what can I say? You make our family proud!!!!!!.Making and selling angles and stars to make a 1000 dollars donation to cancer in memory of Paul and Tom.Emily Happy Birthday.Sorry I'm late. I did call but got Bob's cell. Good seeing you all when you came by Diane's house.Especially that prissy sweet Anna Kate. The New Year's at Dub and Beth's home was wonderful-food, naps and card game and everybody being together and all the laughter!!!. It's always so great to see all the children. Enjoyed being with the Rowe girls and Mikay last Saturday - never a dull moment. Got plenty of good hugs. Seems I've missed Daniel the last times I was over, but every time I open my cell phone, I see "Daniel loves You". Love you too buddy. Leslie loaded up the transport chair and carried me to "Christmas In the Old South" (my first time). I found the angels for Christmas. Thanks to Brian for keeping the boys and thanks to the boys on another shopping that you were there to help push me around. Love all of you so much!! And thanks Neal and Connor for greeting me with a hug and "I Love You".

Lee Family Update
Win played a great game Tuesday night in BA's win over Curtis Baptist of Augusta. Then he got in the car and started throwing up before we even got home. After numerous trips to the bathroom (I told him I would give him $50.00 if he made it to the toilet every time - it worked!) he finally started feeling a little better around lunch yesterday. He has made a full recovery and even managed to make it to school today! But - I have been laid up in the bed all day. We're waiting on it to hit John now.
Win plays on Friday night at BA. John and I will be leaving the game to go to St. Simons for the weekend for an insurance meeting. Hopefully, the bug will not follow us there! Whitney is back in Athens - she has her last sorority Formal this weekend. Yancey is going up to be her date! I know they will have a lot of fun. Next week is full of basketball. Truthfully, I'm ready for baseball! We are trying to figure out Win's summer baseball plans now. My summer plans involved being at Fripp all I can!!!
Tuesday night - January 27 - is Lights Out at BA. We are blacking out the game against Memorial. (they beat us in a hotly contested game in Savannah a couple of weeks ago by 1 point). For some reason, they are not calling it a "Black Out" but "Lights Out". I think it has something to do with the make-up of the Memorial team :). Come on out and support us! We need it. If we win this game, we will probably go into the region playoffs tied with Memorial for the #1 spot.
Since John has not posted lately, here is a joke:
Why did the orange stop rolling down the hill?
He ran out of juice!!!!
PEACE, LOVE & HOPE,
Lisa

AWESOME UPDATE!!
We did it!! Tonight we turned in $1000.00 to the American Cancer Society through the relay for life team at FBC. During the meeting and while leaving the church I had people asking about the stars and angels and if we had any more. We do still have a few at Doodle Bugs, but I have emailed my brother in hopes that he can cut and ship more real soon so we can be prepared if more are needed. So keep reminding people that the stars and angels are not only beautiful and unique, but make the best gifts in the world.
I did hear from one of the Doodle girls that the Lee family isn't feeling well at all. I sure do hope you get better soon! I will be more than happy to bring anything you need -holding my breath - to your door - knock and run like hell to get away from you (no offense). Feel free to call me.
I hope everyone else is doing great. I keep up with Win's bball through the paper since I have not been able to see another game. Mikay is doing great on the court. I have been really proud of her and the rest of the team. I keep hearing how great Neal is doing, but Mikay plays on the same days and times and have not been able to see for myself yet.
I helped Mimi start her first official blog post on her laptop solitaire machine, but had to leave her while she was typing, and realize now that it never made it to the blog. Not sure what happened, but we will get it up next time.
I continue to train for my first official triathlon under the watchful eye of my personal trainer Dub. He assures me that I will not only finish, but I will survive! But just incase, know that I love you all.
I hope everyone has a great night and rest of the week.
peace, love and hope

Canadian Couple !!
As you can see from the photos below, the Canadian Rockies are beautiful and Lisa and I had a great time. We are glad to be home. We didn't know if we would make it or not because we had to change planes in Chicago and they were cancelling flights due to the weather, but somehow they let our flight go on. We enjoyed the trip. We got to ski, go on a horse driven sleigh ride, and go a an actual dog sledding adventure that was awesome!
Somehow I caught the flu on the last day of the trip, but it was alright because I took a bunch of medicine which made me sleep on the airplane on the way home.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO LESLIE !!! It is now official that you are older than me!
We are plannning on going to the GSU game on Saturday night. I have 6 tickets and I don't know who all in my family is going yet.
Thank you Dub for posting that picture from the river trip. I guess it is not the same as Las Vegas where "everything that happens on the river stays on the river". It's not like my family doesn't have enough material to use to make fun of me. But you have added some more. (How come things like this never happen to Bob?)
Congratulations to Beth (and our family) for the money that was raised for Paul & Papa's stars. I can't imagine how proud they must be and how proud they are of this family. I miss them so much!! I think about them all of the time.
We will see everyone soon!

It is nice to see a photo of Jay with his pants on.
Happy Birthday Leslie!
Mimi- we are still waiting on your first blog post from your new Solitaire Machine.
We plan on going to GSU vs Davidson tomorrow, if anyone from out of town is going- give us a call!
Dub
Alright Aunt Di I thought you were being so sweet by pointing out that I helped so much during the Christmas meal ( I didn'dt have to excuse myself once) and then I get accused of cheating. Did you forget who the goody too shoes in the family was. I am glad that everybody is back in the state of Georgia, but not for long , The Cook family is leaving Saturday for Charleston. It is going to be cold. I was heard to get back in the swing of these going back to work but since I love my job I have adjested. Congrats on the Angels Betha.

GO GATORS

Mother and I went to the BA game tonight - and watched the BA Girls and Boys Basketball teams. The girls lost a close game to RTC and the boys won. They play again this Thursday night and then again on Monday - Girls at Noon & Boys at 1:30. So if you're not in the MLK Parade come on out to BA for some basketball. GO Gators!!!!!!!
LOOKS COLD IN CANADA
Beth, the angels are a great success. Thank you so much for all the time you and everyone put into this project. I know Paul and Papa are proud of everyone of us!!! Please tell your brother how much we appreciate his help in cutting the tin for the angel pieces.
Lisa and Jay should be back in Georgia sometime tomorrow. Lisa sent some pictures that I thought I would pass along. She says that Canada is beautiful. I Love All Of You!!!

MAY I HAVE YOUR ATTENTION PLEASE!!
As of right now we have raised $920.00!!! HOW AWESOME IS THAT!!!!!
I am still trying to find people that might need one so we can reach $1000.00. How absolutely cool would that be to reach that unbelievable amount. If you hear of anyone that may be interested let them know that we still have some at Doodle Bugs and I have a few at my house.
I am turning this money in soon so the checks people wrote can clear, but we can still add to our amount later.
I wish I could put into words how meaningful this project is to me, but I don't think it's possible. I'm thankful for our family who - when faced with adversity - found a way to contribute to a greater good - not give up and give in to helplessness and sorrow. If for one split second your mind wonders and you think "I didn't do anything, or put any together or paint any" or whatever then STOP! If one of us painted, assembled or sold one then we all did. That's what family is and we have the best!
So if you get asked during the "Relay for Life" season if you want to give or help raise money for the ACS - feel free - but you can proudly say that our family has raised over $900.00 and is still working to raise more.
I hope everyone has a great day and I will update the amount as it changes!!
Peace, Love and Hope to all who read!

THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES

Well, I thought that after the Christmas Holidays that things would return to somewhat normalcy with kids back in school and others back to the work day. But NO, this week Jay and Lisa are in Canada (I think Jay knew Dub was publishing his picture and left the USA), John in Texas, Dub in Arizona, and Barbara and Glenn in California - and Beth you know how I like everyone to be in their respective places. Please everyone have a great time, be careful and have a safe trip.
Thank all of you for making this another Christmas to be cherished with memories to last a life time - for the youngest to the oldest of us. We really start our memories on Thanksgiving afternoon when we all arrive at the Lee's for the BONFIRE with the oyster roast and boiled shrimp - but ask the young ones and they will tell you that Aunt Lisa's SMORES are the "best".
Some like the dancing around the fire, some like to play with the fire (Uncle Bob), some insist that Uncle Jay do his rapping (He developed his talent in this field when he was the only white kid playing basketball at SHS). So thanks Uncle John and Aunt Lisa for your hospitality each Thanksgiving. At some time during the holidays Santa calls Uncle Glenn and Aunt Barbara to let them know when he is going to be at their house so that we all can tell him what is on our Christmas list. He seems to remember all that we tell him. Aunt Barbara has chilli and hot dogs with all the trimmings so that we won't be hungry while we go on the hayride that Uncle Glenn has set up for us. Aunt Lisa and Aunt Emily even made us song books with all the Christmas Carols that we sing as we ride through Claxton. I must say it was very "Cold" on this hayride. So thanks Uncle Glenn and Aunt Barbara for the visit with Santa and the Hayride. Then finally that special day, Jesus' birthday is here and everyone comes to my house for brunch and to open Christmas Presents - Yeah!!!! Each of us tells what we are thankful for before opening a gift and it seems the number 1
response was "Our Family". After the gifts are all opened and the turkey is in the oven for dinner, some are playing games inside and some outside, and some are just looking for a bed to lie down. The Christmas dinner was excellent, thanks to all of you for pitching in and helping (especially Emily). Then the card game started, Bob how did you end up at the table with all of the females? It was a fun day, but I think we were all exhausted by 10:00 that night. I don't think Mother got out of bed until 6:00 p.m. the next day. A week later we find ourselves at Uncle Dub's and Aunt Beth's for "NEW YEAR'S DAY" and boy did we eat good. Leslie cooked the greens and we had blackeye peas, rice, pork roast, veggie chilli, vegetables with dip, and I'm sure I've left something off that we did have. Oh, and mother cooked the corn bread - which we all fought over - next year she will make more. After some basketball in the backyard - the serious card game started. It was a lot of fun because Whitney and Taylor (Win's girlfriend) played. I was lucky that I got to sit by Emily during the card game or so I thought until I found that she was cheating. That was funny!!! We missed Lisa and John, Lisa and Jay and the Rowe girls - maybe next year. Thanks Uncle Dub and Aunt Beth for letting us begin the New Year at your house.
Good Luck to Justin as he begins his second semester at GSU and Whitney as she begins her last semester at GA.
Leslie, I hope everything goes smooth with the closing on your house. Let me know if I can help. And I do have a couple of beds if you need a place to sleep.
I Love All of You and "THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES"

Family Update
Well, it was a big adjustment going back to work after 2 great weeks of vacation. We have settled into a normal routine of school and work. We are doing great but we miss seeing everyone.
Here is an overview of our river trip. If there was such a thing as a triathlon that consisted of 18 holes of golf, followed by free throw shooting and ends with a fish frying contest- Jay Rowe could turn pro. He is like Picasso when it comes to frying food, truly an artist. However, his paddling skills are somewhat lacking (as indicated by this photo). Bob still can't get by without filling his gallon jug during the night. The weather was beautiful and we had a great time.
The Fordhams are closing on their house on friday, so pray everything goes smooth and works out perfect.
I saw where BA lost to MDS on a last second shot, sounds like there was a little controversy involved.
Here is the Handsome Uncle John joke of the day- Why didn't the crab get picked for the basketball team?
Because he was a shellfish player! (Anna Kate- please explain to your mother)
I'll be in Arizona next week, so y'all check on Beth and the kids!
Dub
*coming soon to the blog - total monies raised by Papa's Stars and Paul's Angels!! I think everyone will be surprised and proud of our family!

Remeber Who????
I don't know her name - but I do know what she was advertising at Justin's graduation.
Beth & Dub,
Thanks for having us over yesterday. It was alot of fun. Maybe we didn't scare Taylor from coming back around when Win is not there. Emily, that was a slick move last night, just can't believe you thought you could pull it off with Mama's cards. Dub hope we did not stay to late but we were having just too much fun. Lets do it again soon.
Love you all! Barbara

Happy New Year
Happy New Year's! John and I brought in the New Year over at Fripp. We had dinner with some friends from Atlanta and brought the new year in with them. Tonight we had dinner over at Margaret Ann and Joe Johnston's house! Fried pork chops - yum!!! I also filled up on cabbage and black eyed peas so that maybe 2009 will bless us with the luck and the money to keep the beach house!
Win plays basketball in Savannah tomorrow night (Friday) at Bethesda. Saturday we are back at home at 7:30. Whitney is still in town until the 7th.
We missed celebrating with the family but have had a great and relaxing time at the beach. I'm trying to stay here as long as possible! John is headed back to Statesboro in the morning. I will either be back tomorrow night or Saturday afternoon.
Peace, Love & Hope
